Hand In Hand
Hand in hand, the echoes linger
he remembers the sweet days of old
when his palm was warmed by love
and his heart didn't feel the cold.

Like a phantom limb now absent
he remembers the pull of his swing
how it felt to be proud of his love
the way the tug made his smile sing.

The touch was a soothing reminder
he had someone who loved him a lot
sod the world, what goes on outside
just look at the good things you got.

Hand in hand, those were the days
the wind has left his sails, deflated
hands in pockets not to feel the loss
a soul flourishes being held, animated.
