December 30th
I saw you,
standing in the crusted, crumbling hallways of that old place.
It felt like a memory,
but it was blurred at the edges, softer.
You were looking at me,
your bright blue eyes smiling warmly.
The air felt thick,
and my throat felt tight.
I reached for you,
and for a moment,
I swear it was you.
Your skin, bumpy and warm,
the scent of sky and ocean clinging to you,
almost like you had always belonged there.
You pulled me close to you,
hugging me tighter than I ever remember feeling.
I couldn't form a true sentence,
only a gasp of air and a small sob:
"You died..."
...
standing in the crusted, crumbling hallways of that old place.
It felt like a memory,
but it was blurred at the edges, softer.
You were looking at me,
your bright blue eyes smiling warmly.
The air felt thick,
and my throat felt tight.
I reached for you,
and for a moment,
I swear it was you.
Your skin, bumpy and warm,
the scent of sky and ocean clinging to you,
almost like you had always belonged there.
You pulled me close to you,
hugging me tighter than I ever remember feeling.
I couldn't form a true sentence,
only a gasp of air and a small sob:
"You died..."
