If I Had a Dime
Let it bright
Let it shine
I'm running out of time
My dearest friend, this friend of mine
I never thought I'd run out of time

I said if I had a dime for every time I said I'm fine
If I had a dime for every time I erased the line
I'd be rich.
So very rich.

But money is not happiness and I am not a hero I can't save the broken hearted or steal for the poor
I can't help a single soul just watch the candle burn the world
and wonder why

Why was I not enough?

If I had a dime for every time I said I'm fine
If I had a dime for every time someone crossed the line
If I had a dime for every time I cried as I watch the clock tick and realize

I am running out of time
Can't I go back in time?

I watch the seconds move as the hand goes round and round
I count the number backwards trying to slow it down

It's funny how we smile as we lie down and cry
As we slowly start realize
Now is fading into then
And I am losing so much time
As I'm losing my closest friend

I tell myself I'll be fine
I've been through this before
I'll tell myself I'll make it out alive
But it hurts all the more

See if I had a dime
For every second out of time
If I had a dime for every time
I was "used to it"
I'd have nothing.

Time runs away
And I lose the things I chase
But no matter how much time shall pass
No matter how many times I come last
I will never, I can never,
Wish it back.

Because I have lost so much
So the more I lose
The more I hurt
And I wait for the day
When I learn to ease the pain
And get used to the hollow spot
Right by my side
Temporarily filled,
No matter the promises I make.
I can't keep you.
I know.

I am forever running out of time
And I can't keep myself in line
So if I had a dime
A dime
I'd find myself a well
And wish this all away.
