Grappling with reality
When I find that I cannot shake a feeling, I look for answers and evidence that it's true or false.

I always want to stay open to the possibility that I could be wrong, especially when I hope I am, but I eventually make my conclusions based on what I can see, read, experience, and feel.

I don't have to be proven right, but I can also suspend judgement as I have that right and as we all do until I have more evidence. However, in the end, it's the human being across from me that I wish to keep safe and show more love and understanding than malice. Sometimes I fail in that, and sometimes I succeed.

Reality has three sides to every story I am told: my side, your side, and the truth. I believe that we should seek the truth, but our humanity and mental limitations do not often allow us to see reality in the moment. We see only the truth of our lens.

Grappling with reality, and searching for truth, has no comparable rival in our abilities as human beings. To search for truth is perhaps the most noble endeavor. Really seeing that person across from you has to be the goal of every conversation, they can't just be about being right. They must be about a search for truth.
