THE PERFECTIONIST

I wished I was perfect
Never seemed to do
Anything right
Felt the frustration
Day and night
But then a friend
Said to me
Don't give yourself
Such a hard time
And you will see
It's not about being
Perfect
So set yourself free
Perfection isn't real
You can't do things perfectly
But getting things better
That's the reality
But life is hard
You feel like giving up
You berate yourself
Call yourself names
But you need to stop
Take a breath
Give yourself a break
You're only human after all
Make a fresh start
And do better
One day at a time
