Empty Promises
I don't really believe in most resolutions.
Like on New Year's Eve, it is just noise pollution.
Join a gym to lose weight or swear off the drinking.
It's hard for me to believe in that limited thinking.

Those kind don't last long. Most seem made as a jest.
Maybe lasting a week or a whole month at best,
But when it's non- committal, I have to dispute,
That people really understand the word resolute.

I think the best word to define what I'm saying,
Is a resolution should be much more unwavering.
When you make such a promise, to yourself for any purpose,
Without determination the whole thing is left worthless.

So I won't get wasted and make New Year's Eve pledges,
If I can't back them up with a drive that means successes.
Don't make empty promises to yourself or to others,
No matter what time of year, only truth should be muttered.
