I was always there
she abused him
took his love for granted
she used him
and manipulated him into being bound to her for his entire life
sure he could always divorce her
but he was so blinded by love that
he never even thought of leaving
when her words got too harsh and her hits hurt too much he came to the only other person in his life

I had loved him for years
yet he only ever saw her
I stayed by his side when no one would
even when she had forced him to cut all ties with me
I never left
he was at a point in his life where he was desperate for love that she didn't give him
so, I gave it to him
I gave him so much love
I showed him what he wasn't getting from her
I loved him hoping it will awaken something in him
that he will see the difference
but at the end of the day he left
my love wasn't enough to break him from her spell
it kept going like this for some time
the more she breaks him the more he came to me seeking what he wanted
the more it broke me
every time he knocked at my door
I let him in with open arms
I will never ask him to divorce her
I will never tell him to leave her
that might sound bad
but the truth is he knows she's toxic
he understands that she will never change
yet he chooses to stay and ignore everything
if that's what he wants I won't force him to stop
in the end I just his friend and will always be just his friend
