flickering lights
this ol'house,
porous pockets
can afford.
And worn-out eyes
demand but not dim
light.
nor a hopeless heart,
the waking up as this
ol'house creaks.
neither do these limpin'
legs, flying around as
the owner is safest!
don't say it's an ol'house
when locks self open
and lights flicker as
knockin' hits the door.
where is my shotgun,
my saving grace.
i ain't screamin'
the tiptoe i hear,
there's no pet on
the staircase. It seems
approachin'.
hell no! it's a nightmare,
a stray cat was at my
window. Gracious me,
this ol'house sucks!
