to some, it's a beautiful story
something you want to linger
over and over in your head
and perhaps go back to.

to some, it's melancholy
a deep hollow that crept
inside your heart when all your loves
got lost which lost you too.

to some, it hints of regret
if only you can turn back time
and do everything for another time
and make them right.

but for all of us, who are held captive
by these incarcerating pasts
whether it be good or bad
must not hold tight,

for the thing called past
may hold us back
from embracing the future
we ought to have.

so let go, no matter how dear,
no matter how hard,
no matter how painful they have been.
Far better things are ahead of us.
