You can't take anything with you
When it's your time to leave
All you take is your soul
Its best you believe
You had better protect it, no reprieve
Better roll up your sleeves
To get things done, do what you need
But no matter the cost
You better let your soul breathe
What does that even mean
The idea isn't hard to conceive
You simply gotta live each day
Let your soul take in all that it may
The arts, ballet...the music you play
Writing for me I must say
Gives My soul such joy
and pleasure inna way
My Soul feels content
after every lyrical soiree I lay
To rest or get off my chest
Bringing emotions to light
Things I wanna say
As the soul within me begins to pray
I am named after King David
Slayer of giants so I slay
At everything that comes my way
Imma bring a rock to a sword fight
That's how I blaze
Only God can settle my turbulent ways
My Soul simply don't play foolish games
Nor does the man in me
This dog bites when betrayed
Respect is mainly what I crave
I could go on for days
Poem after poem...phrase after phrase
Space for spade
Some think I'm alien made
But I'm only human best believe
Much like the autumn leaves
Tears fall when they please
Our emotions take hold of us at times
and we concede
To their ebb and flow
no matter how deep
It's our souls that must dive in
It is our souls that must breathe
So we take it all in
Get what we need as we proceed
To the depths of infinity
Thank you God for all you've given me
Thank you for all that I have seen
Thank you for teaching my soul to breathe
As this sunlight rains upon my face
And I fall on bended knee to his grace
It breathes because I have faith
I leave it to God as I go my way
