A HUMBLE HEART'S ATTEMPT by Bhengu SS
A HUMBLE HEART'S ATTEMPT by Bhengu SS

Though poetry's not my native tongue,
I'll find words to soothe your heart,
And make it young.
Though not Shakespeare's with verse divine,
Their truth ensues.
My language may not dance with poetic flair,
No "thee"s or "thou"s my humble pen,
A love's song without frills or ken.
I've aged out of poetry's sweet prime,
My first cry echoed with a heart's rhyme.
In that moment our hearts beat as one,
Yours shuttered and mine followed beneath the sun.
So though I'm no Bard with words of might,
I'll try with love eternal 'til time and rhyme defy.
With imperfect words, I'll speak from my soul,
Hoping to touch yours and make our hearts whole.
No sonnets, no odes, just a humble heart's cry,
Reaching for yours with a love that will not die.
Though not Shakespeare, a simpleton at best,
But for you, my love, I'll put my heart to the test.
