The Ghost Of Bravery
All Hallow's Eve
My favorite day.
When the ghosts and the spooks all come out to play.
We all get dressed up and go Trick or Treating,
To gather the candy we'll later be eating.
I'm not quite a kid, but they'll never know,
When I cover my face so my age doesn't show.
I have a new trick that me and my friends,
Are going to play on the young high school kids.
At the end of the street, as in most small towns,
There's an overgrown yard, and a long ignored house.
My boys have set traps that will give them a fright,
And will make damn sure that they don't sleep tonight.
When they run away, all screaming and crying,
They'll most likely leave, their candy behind.
Then we collect and our spoils we will split,
Go home and eat candy, til we're swollen and sick.
I spot my first victims, six large teenage boys,
All gathering candy, with a five year old's joy,
Asking meekly to join them, we walk for an hour,
I explained why I'm alone, and my night had turned sour.
I said I was dared to go in the old house,
But I squeaked an ran off as if I were a mouse,
And my friends all made fun of my clear lack of courage.
I slumped both my shoulders. And retreated. Discouraged.
My new friends got fired up at the ones who had jeered me
For running from that house, both quickly and fearfully.
We made our way back to the site of my shame.
We called for the other boys, each one by their name.
At first we got nothing, that was the plan we made,
And then we heard a yell, as if someone had been flayed.
Reluctance day in but our mission was clear.
We had to scare these boys the hell out of here.
As we neared the door, we noticed another,
Thinking I'd been found out, my face drained of color.
He turned out a stranger, To me and the others.
He kind of resembled, a friend of my brother's.
He offered to join us on our little campaign.
Another being with us might could add to our gains.
We entered the building in search of the pricks,
Who had snickered and laugh at my running for it.
Not far inside, we reached the first trap.
Wow! My friends used some...
