Beautiful Creatures (Angel City 8)
Despite its façades,
Its ugliness,
It's a city of beautiful
creatures.
They pass me now
in the street.
Their accents speak
of foreign lands,
Places decidedly
prettier than this.
So why are they here?
The same as everyone else:
They've hopes and dreams
that set their hearts ablaze.
And even if those dreams
are never realized,
I hope they know
the beauty they've made
of a place so ugly
and downtrodden.
