DEAR PAPA

I know we are hardly ever on the same page
But I give you credit for making me unlock my cage

Growing up was tough, as you never spared the rod
You put all your eggs in us, and handed us over to God

Looking back today, it seems the gamble was a wise one
The future you seasoned with your sweat will in your presence be done

Thank you for the support, the push and the pressure
Teaching me to always aim for excellence, even in my leisure

Today, and always, I want you to know that I am proud of you
I pray someday to become a Professor, just like you
