Deconstruct/Devastate/Reconstruct/Reanimate
It’s time
This time: I aim for the heart
Feelings have made a fortress
With apathy at its guard
Defeated time and time again
Every time the surface is clean
Three more heads grow back unseen
A heart twisted in thorns
Longing for life to bloom again
But for every ounce of hope
Hell attacks harder than before
I shall be reborn in blood
Pour the fountain over me
Wash me clean
And cut out my heart
A desperate plea to combat this attack
The battleground is my heart
This war is won
But this journey won’t be one
Of ease
Raze the walls
Burn the fortress
And rebuild a kingdom
Of Your presence
Deconstruct what needs deconstruction
Reconstruct what needs reconstruction in Your image
Let the worthless things
Be blown away
Chaff has no weight
So sift it away
May it go up in flames
The part of me that needs to die
Pain into purity
Death to apathy
Take up my cross daily
And face it head on
May love be planted where hate has thrived
A seared conscious
Deliver me back to life
Breathe your breath into me
And may I live solely devoted
To the cause of Christ at the crown
My darkness is constant
But your light is ever present
My fallen nature is looming
I don’t have to give in
To the pressure
To the death it constantly brings
It’s a fight like never before
Destroy the sin
The fight within
Do the strong survive on their own?
Or do they get crushed under the weight of the imperfect life they lead
Do the strong respond with willpower?
Or are strong men found with their faces to the ground?
Look upon this valley of dry bones and let it burn
Bring to life again these desires
This fire will burn bright one day
But now bring to focus where you want me
I’ve asked the same questions over and over
Maybe it’s time I take a leap off this cliff
Leave behind what’s overreaching
My fear needs to die
May your ocean meet me
Deconstruct and destroy the parts of me
Reconstruct me in the image of the cross
And may every worthless thing be stripped away
