When something is forced, it isn't genuine
It isn't as genuine as buying your lady roses when it’s not Valentine's Day
It isn't as genuine as giving a friend a call when their absence has been consistent
It isn't as genuine as helping a stranger out when you didn't have to

I choose to do things not because my heart says so, but believes so
Wasting my time by spending it on people who lack communication
Holding their hands, afraid to lose both the bond and connection
But sometimes, you have to be selfish and not selfless
Or you'll get used as the women whose main job is to make others feel something

The distance that's created is necessary for me to acknowledge the truth
That no one cares about me, loves me, and is here for me
Which means I have to care about me, love me, and be here for me
