My Talent
I like my poems to rhyme.
That's why they take some time.
To think of what it'll be about.
And to be relatable, without a doubt.
It's not easy to have this skill.
But since I have it, I'm just gonna chill.
I discovered my talent when I was 15.
I was away from home, dealing with low self-esteem.
I needed a way to vent what I was feeling.
And so poetry became a part of my "healing".
By the time I was 16, I had wanted to share my gift.
Others seemed to like them;They said it made their mood shift.
I had wanted to publish my own book.
I already knew how I wanted it to look.
Years have passed and I still haven't published it.
But, one day I will because I will not quit.
My journey continues, as I grow to be resilient.
And my journey will be adventurous, and my skills will keep killin'-it.
