The gulls wait at water's edge
As waves cascade to setting-sun

Orange hues oozing a vitality of life
in ending light, before the day is done

With the train whistle blowing to the south
and Chicago skyline softening to the west

I give thanks for another day and
hike back to camp for an evenings rest
