A Glimpse Of Depression...

I don't know how to explain the way I feel,
This haunting emptiness inside me is so real,
Because depression is the absence of emotion that leaves you dead inside,
It strips you of everything you used to feel,
sometimes even your pride,
You go from a happy, healthy being
to a pale, expressionless reflection in a mirror you keep seeing
You learn to respond with "I am okay" and your smile is permanently fake,
But you do it anyway, just for cinematic value's sake,
You wake up some days, wishing that you did not as you lay in bed,
So you stumble to the kitchen and gulp down the hand full of medication like your therapist said
You do yoga, adopt mantras, read books,
and meditate,
You are never on time because when you cannot feel, you do not care if you are late,
Around you people are living,
moving at a fast pace,
but you simply exist, going nowhere slowly,
stuck in the same place.
