ODE TO MELANCHOLY
My heart aches, my heart aches,
Oh ! when your arrival bell rings,
To my ear — my sense
As though poison I have drunk
To me the pale have kiss'd.
It's not only familiar to me,
When the wintry wind roars,
When it's white to the nature's
floor
When nature sings her farewells;
To the good and blessed time
And like to welcome the serpent—
In own's bossom ,
Nature's frame is in beauteous form;
But physical in adversity,
And the fretful fall from the trees,
The dry leaves are dancing in the
breeze;
Help to increase the family of
the deep and gloomy greenery,
All around covered in white;
Oh ! what a sight;
And casually shine
And stretched in never ending line.
Melancholy, you are in everything,
Like to tell farewells to our close kindreds;
Like when the stormy clouds,
Grab the ship with great strength
And make it to toss, around the
dark and grey sea
The sailors struggle to survive.
Oh ! melancholy here you are
to the poor sailors;
But remember, nothing lasts forever,
As you are a ephemeral
And sing your own farewell.
